So, I was offered a super cool opportunity in May. The awesome people at K.I.C.K asked me if I would design a price of artwork for their June subscription box. I was so flattered and of course, jumped at the offer.
I decided to create something colorful and something that combined lettering, ink, and watercolors. The K.I.C.K creation was born.
I created this piece using the Arteza 12 pan watercolor set, I love this palette. It’s insanely good quality and so versitile. It may seem limited but you can really mix any shade you need from this palette. It’s my go to palette for painting on the go or outside. I used the wet on wet technique to create the gems and a paint palette for the indents, which made the gems look vintage and worn. I loved the look of the different types of necklaces all tangled together. I created the necklaces using the Marvy Uchida Le Pen. Gems can’t be gems u less the sparkle right? And I’m secretly romantically attracted to glitter so there’s that… so I topped them off with the Prima Metallics set.
Since this piece was going in an open ended art box, I figured an inspirational quote was totally needed. I defiantly love the one I chose. I lettered it using the Kuratake Zig gem set. Pun totally intended.
I absolutely love the quote I chose for this project. Art truely is what you can get away with. It’s absolutely pushing the limits, most importantly within yourself. If your nervous and uncomfortable, your doing it right. Don’t ever hold back while creating, be weird, be random… it’s only a piece if paper, or a potential masterpiece in the making.
Thank you Keep it Creative for the awesome opportunity. I was overjoyed with the offer and I hope I didn’t let you down!
I’m giving all of you permission to get away with whatever you want in your artwork.
